                         Essa ambiguidade revela a sua import{\^a}ncia diante dois temas 
                         relevantes e globais: sustentabilidade ambiental e 
                         seguran{\c{c}}a alimentar. Este trabalho avaliou o potencial das 
                         pastagens como reservas de terras para a expans{\~a}o das 
                         lavouras de gr{\~a}os sem a necessidade de novos desmatamentos. 
                         Verificou-se que existem ~17 Mha de pastagens com 
                         condi{\c{c}}{\~o}es clim{\'a}ticas, topogr{\'a}ficas e de 
                         infraestrutura favor{\'a}veis {\`a} produ{\c{c}}{\~a}o de 
                         gr{\~a}os. Restringindo as condi{\c{c}}{\~o}es para as 
                         pastagens localizadas em Latossolos, foi avaliado que ~12 Mha 
                         est{\~a}o aptos para receber lavouras de gr{\~a}os. ABSTRACT: 
                         Brazil is the country with the largest area of native vegetation 
                         deforested per year, it is also one of the largest producers and 
                         exporters of meat and soy in the world. This ambiguity reveals its 
                         importance in the face of two relevant and global issues: 
                         environmental sustainability and food security. This work 
                         evaluated the potential of pastures as land reserves for the 
                         expansion of grain crops without the need for new deforestation. 
                         It was found that there are ~17 Mha of pastures with favorable 
                         climatic, topographical and infrastructure conditions for grain 
                         production. Restricting the conditions for the pastures located in 
                         Latosols, it was evaluated that ~12 Mha are able to receive grain 
                         crops.",
